Every Tewinbury Farm wedding has its own atmosphere — but there’s a particular kind that makes you remember every part of the night — the kind where the venue, the couple, and the dance floor all line up. Rachael and Jack’s wedding at The Tythe Barn, Tewinbury Farm was one of those nights.

About The Tythe Barn

The Tythe Barn sits at the heart of Tewinbury Farm in Hertfordshire — a restored 17th-century barn with original oak beams reaching up to the rafters. It’s a venue that doesn’t need a lot of dressing up. The architecture does the work. Warm light bouncing off old timber, exposed brick walls, and a dance floor that feels like the natural centre of the whole space.

For a DJ, it’s a near-perfect room. The acoustics are forgiving but lively. The proportions invite people onto the dance floor early. And the sight-lines mean that whether your guests are at the bar, the tables, or up dancing, they all feel part of the same moment.

Rachael and Jack’s night

Rachael and Jack had clearly thought about every detail — but they let the night flow rather than scripting it. By the time we’d finished the first dance, the floor was already filling. By halfway through the night, the only people not dancing were the photographers trying to keep up.

The mix of guests was the kind every wedding DJ hopes for: family who wanted the classics, friends who wanted the throwbacks, and a couple of die-hards who weren’t leaving the floor until the last song. We worked through everything from Motown to modern indie to late-night disco, and the floor stayed packed start to finish.

Why we love DJing at Tewinbury Farm

The Tythe Barn is one of those venues where the room helps you do your job. The lighting setup we bring complements the existing fairy lights and uplighting Tewinbury Farm provides. The DJ booth tucks neatly into the corner so the focus stays on the dancers, not the gear. And the layout means there’s no awkward “behind the screen” — every guest is part of the party.

We’ve played at venues across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, but every Tewinbury Farm wedding consistently delivers the kind of atmosphere that makes a wedding night feel cinematic. If you’re considering it — book it.

Tips for couples planning a Tewinbury Farm wedding

A few thoughts from our side of the room for couples thinking about a Tewinbury Farm wedding:

  • Book your evening setup early. Tewinbury Farm books up 12-18 months ahead for prime dates. The team are brilliant to work with — start the conversation early to lock your date in. You can see availability on the venue’s official website.
  • Don’t overlook the lighting. The Tythe Barn’s existing fairy lights are gorgeous, but a few well-placed uplighters in your wedding colours transform the room from “venue” to “moment”. We bring 8 uplighters as standard in our Silver package and up.
  • Plan your timeline around the dancing. A great Tewinbury Farm wedding leaves at least three hours for the evening reception. We’ve seen couples cut the dance floor short — your guests remember the night they danced, not the speeches. Looking through guest reviews on Hitched, the dance floor moments are what couples mention again and again.
  • Make the first dance count. The Tythe Barn’s acoustics work for slow songs and bangers alike. Pick a song that means something — even better, pick a curveball arrangement that gets guests up halfway through.

Every Tewinbury Farm wedding feels slightly different. The venue is forgiving and the room invites a great party — but the magic happens in the prep work. The best Tewinbury Farm wedding nights we’ve played all started with detailed conversations months before the day. Talk to us early.
