How Much Does a Wedding DJ Cost in Buckinghamshire & Hertfordshire? (2026 Pricing Guide)
Most wedding suppliers won’t give you a price until you’ve sent four emails and filled in a form — and we’ll hold our hands up: Fill The Floor Discos has a “request a quote” button too. That’s not about hiding prices.
It’s because an accurate quote genuinely depends on a few things: how long you want the disco, whether your venue needs an early setup, the size of the room and the production it needs, and how far away you are. What we don’t think is fair is leaving you with no idea at all until you’ve enquired. So if you’ve been Googling “how much does a wedding DJ cost in Buckinghamshire” or “Hertfordshire wedding DJ prices”, here’s our attempt at a straight answer.
I’m Daniel, the founder of Fill The Floor Discos — we’ve been filling dance floors across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire for 25 years. We can only really speak for our own business — but between the weddings we’ve played, the venues we work with, and the hundreds of couples we’ve spoken to over the years, we’ve got a fairly good picture of what things cost around here in 2026. Here it is, honestly.

The short answer: typical wedding DJ costs in Bucks and Herts for 2026
For a Saturday wedding evening (7pm to midnight — the standard 5-hour booking), most couples in Bucks and Herts tell me they’re seeing quotes somewhere between £300 and £1,200, with the majority of established wedding DJs sitting in the £500–£750 range.
From what we’ve seen over the years, the differences between those numbers usually come down to a few things: how much experience the DJ has with weddings specifically, the quality of the sound and lighting they bring, whether they carry insurance and backup equipment, and how much planning they do with you before the day. At the top end — £1,200 and beyond — you’re usually looking at bigger productions, which really only makes sense for larger weddings.
We’d gently say this: the number on the quote is only part of the picture. What you’re really booking is experience — a DJ who has done hundreds of weddings knows how to handle a late-running meal, a nervous best man, or a quiet dance floor at 9pm, and that’s hard to see on paper. Just as important is finding the right DJ for you: someone who gets the kind of night you’re picturing and who you feel comfortable talking to. So rather than simply lining the quotes up side by side, speak to each DJ — the right one for your wedding usually becomes obvious quite quickly.
What you’re actually paying for with Fill The Floor Discos
Rather than talk about other people’s prices, here’s exactly what’s included when you book us for your wedding evening:
- The night itself — expertly reading the crowd, taking requests, and seamlessly mixing music from every decade to keep guests of all ages dancing. After 25 years of weddings, we know how to build the night: when to ease people in, when to drop the big floorfillers, and how to keep the energy climbing to the very last song. That experience is what turns a good party into an unforgettable one.
- The kit — a professional disco setup in white or black to suit the look and feel you want for your day. That means a DJ booth with a star-lit cloth in your chosen colour, speakers to match, and a full lighting rig — moving heads, visual light fixtures and lights that fill the floor with patterns. Every wedding booking also includes mood lighting to transform the whole party space.
- The planning — through our easy-to-use online planning portal you can select your favourite songs, artists and genres, highlight any tracks you’d like us to avoid, and share all the key information we need to make sure your special day runs smoothly — like your timeline and bridal party details. It’s your night, so we start with your songs — and we know how to build the party around these. You can even share our guest song request link with friends and family before the big day, and every request is quietly checked against your do-not-play list.
- The boring-but-essential paperwork — £10m public liability insurance, PAT-tested equipment and music licensing. Venues across Bucks and Herts require these before a DJ can set up, but for us it’s about more than ticking boxes: it protects you, your guests and the venue, and it means no last-minute problems on a day that needs to run smoothly.
What moves the price up or down
A few things genuinely change your wedding DJ cost — with us or with anyone:
Day of the week. Saturdays from May to September are peak, and they book up first. In our diary, Fridays tend to come in a bit cheaper, Sundays cheaper still, and midweek dates are where the real savings are.
Time of year. January, February and November are quieter months, and most DJs (me included) have more flexibility then. December is the exception — Christmas party season pushes demand back up.
How long you book for. Our standard wedding booking is five hours, and if you’d like the music to start earlier or run later, additional time is charged at £75 an hour.
Where your venue is. There are no additional travel charges for venues in Buckinghamshire or Hertfordshire — from Watford and St Albans up to Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, it’s all home turf. For weddings further afield, any travel charge is included clearly in your quote upfront.
The extras. The extras are the fun part: a selfie pod or Magic Mirror photo booth, light-up LOVE, MR & MRS or initial letters, and an LED star-lit dance floor in black or white. You can find out about all the packages we offer — and booking things together is the best way to manage costs, because the more you book, the better overall price we can give you.
What we charge — and why
For full transparency: our wedding DJ cost for a standard 5-hour Saturday wedding in Bucks or Herts sits in the £500–£750 range, depending on the date and what you’d like included. We ask a few questions before giving your exact figure — the length of the disco, whether an early setup is needed, the size of your venue and the production it needs, and the travel distance — because those genuinely change the price. But once we know them, you get one clear number, and we’ll always tell you the exact figure before you commit to anything.
Ceremony and drinks-reception music can be added, and extras like the selfie pod or Magic Mirror photo booth, light-up letters and the LED star-lit dance floor are all priced clearly upfront — no surprises on the invoice.
What you get for that is 25 years of weddings, 83 five-star Google reviews from local couples, £10m public liability insurance, PAT-tested kit with a full backup rig, a 50,000+ track library — and Daniel personally behind the decks on the night.
You can get a free no-obligation quote within 24 hours by telling us your date, venue and a rough idea of what you want.
Frequently asked wedding DJ cost questions
Should I book the cheapest DJ if my budget is tight?
If budget is tight, our honest advice is to look at a midweek or off-peak date with an experienced DJ rather than the cheapest quote on a peak Saturday. Your DJ effectively runs your entire evening reception — it’s one of the few parts of the day where experience really shows.
How far in advance should I book to lock in a good price?
Peak Saturdays (May–September) in our diary book up 12–18 months ahead; off-peak dates often have availability 3–6 months out. In our experience prices don’t rise much as the date approaches — availability just disappears. Book early for choice, not for discounts. Our month-by-month booking timeline walks through exactly what to do when.
Is a DJ better value than a live band?
For a full evening, usually yes — and with a live band you’ll often need a DJ to fill the gaps anyway. A lovely middle ground we’ve seen work brilliantly is an acoustic singer for the drinks reception (roughly £300–£500) plus a DJ for the evening. We’ve written a fuller comparison in our wedding DJ vs live band guide.
Are wedding DJ prices VAT-inclusive?
It depends on the business. Smaller DJ businesses under the VAT threshold quote VAT-free — what you’re quoted is what you pay. Larger agencies may add 20% on top, so always check. Our quotes are always the final figure — nothing added later.
