Your first dance is a moment all about you two, a magical pause where you can connect while everyone you love looks on. Choosing a song you love will make your first dance a moment to enjoy together and truly memorable.

Classic First Dance Songs

These songs have stood the test of time and continue to be first dance favourites.

  • At Last – Etta James
  • Your Song – Elton John
  • Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love – Elvis Presley
  • Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You – Frankie Valli

Modern Alternatives

If classics aren’t your style, there are plenty of modern songs that feel just as meaningful.

  • Perfect – Ed Sheeran
  • All of Me – John Legend
  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  • Lover – Taylor Swift
  • Adore You – Harry Styles

Your first dance is a memorable part of your wedding day, a moment to share quietly together in front of your guests. Choosing a song that feels right for you as a couple makes it feel natural and personal.

Tips for Choosing Your First Dance Song

  • Pick a song you both like – Focus on a track that feels meaningful to you, rather than what others expect.
  • Keep it simple – A slower, straightforward song often feels more natural for a first dance.
  • Consider the length – Choose a section of the song that works for a 2–3 minute dance; you can always fade out early.
  • Practice together – Even a few short rehearsals can help you feel comfortable moving together.
  • Relax and enjoy it – Remember, it’s about sharing a moment together—guests will enjoy it no matter what.

If you’re tying the knot in Hertfordshire or Buckinghamshire, book Fill The Floor Discos to ensure your first dance – and every song that follows – is unforgettable.
