About Shendish Manor

Shendish Manor is an elegant wedding venue set in 160 acres of Hertfordshire countryside just outside Hemel Hempstead, with a beautiful Victorian manor house, formal Dutch gardens and an orangery. Two spaces handle the weddings: the Longman Room, an intimate space for 20–80 guests with its own private entrance and parking right outside, and the Apsley Suite, the bigger room for up to 400 guests, opening onto its own walled garden and terrace.

The Longman Room rewards a closer look. Off the dance floor there’s a small romantic nook with a large window; through two beautiful arches sits the bar, with comfortable seating and big windows over the gardens; a separate room at the end of the suite takes the evening buffet and quieter conversation; and behind the disco, the Dickinson Suite — a handsome room with its own fireplace and a grand front window — is made for the photo booth. Walk across the dance floor and past the staircase and you’re out at the back of the manor, with outside tables and plenty of space to socialise or take photographs.

We work closely with each couple to create the soundtrack for their wedding — and every booking includes our online planning portal, where you choose your must-plays, your do-not-plays and your special dances, and sort the planning details in your own time. There’s a phone app for adding a song the moment it comes to mind, and a request link you can share with guests before the day. From the first dance through to the final song of the night, the playlist starts with you.

DJ Setup for This Venue

In the Longman Room we set up in front of the fireplace, with the dance floor filling the middle of the room and guests around the edge — a layout that puts the music at the heart of the night without crowding anyone. The panelled walls give the room a warm, natural sound, and our uplighters pick out the columns and woodwork beautifully. The photo booth goes in the Dickinson Suite just behind the disco, so guests can drift between dancing, photos and the bar through the arches without ever leaving the party.

You also get a choice of look: our sleek black starlit setup or the elegant white starlit setup. Both offer the same high-quality sound and lighting — you can choose the finish that suits your day and decor.
